What is TAA Compliant?
Integrators who design projects for the US Government know that products must be what is known as “TAA compliant” to secure a bid. Compliance with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA) is required in order to sell to the United States government or related entities. This means that products are made or “substantially transformed” in the US or in a signatory country designated by the TAA. The TAA was enacted to foster fair and open international trade, but more importantly, it limits U.S. Government procurement to US-made products or products made in designated countries.
TAA Designated Countries Include
- World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement Countries (e.g. Australia, Germany, South Korea, Japan)
- Free Trade Agreement Countries (Mexico, Canada, or Singapore)
- Least Developed Countries (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Samoa, Yemen, etc.)
- Caribbean Basin Countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Curacao).
